Not that I eat turkey.
Regardless, this year there was a lot to be thankful for. Honestly, every year there is a lot to be thankful for, it’s just a matter of being in the right frame of mind to see it. I’m thankful that this year I was in that frame of mind (see what I did there?)
I’m thankful that I have the ability to write in this blog. Not just because I own a blog (although that, in itself, is quite fun) but because I have the ability to write. My boy isn’t so lucky, and G is in for a lifetime of struggles in that regard. He’ll probably never have a blog, or write a book, or pen a love letter to a girlfriend. But he will be able to have a vlog if he wants, voiceover an audiobook, or produce a tiktok video for the girlfriend…so I’m thankful for the age we live in that will give a boy like G all kind of opportunities.
I’m thankful for the medical community that we often take for granted. I have a doctor taking me seriously who is driven, passionate, and motivated to help me feel better. I have access to needed mental health professionals for both myself and Shifty. I have a family support network that is willing to do just about anything to help us feel better (even if it means giving up sugar during the holidays!)
I’m thankful for the clean air I breathe, the clean water I drink, and the variety of food available to me. For those who don’t have those things…I see you and want so much better for you. I have opportunities you don’t, but I also have opportunities to help.
Finally, I’m thankful for every day I get on this big, blue marble. Time is not promised nor guaranteed to us. While I’m not saying live each moment like it’s your last (who has the energy for that?) I am saying appreciate each moment as it comes to us.
Happy thanksgiving.
